Have you ever wondered where the distinctive Breeze House African style came from?
The founder of Breeze House started the company in 1996. Inspired originally by the timber and thatched shelters he saw whilst visiting Africa, he was struck by the usefulness of the native, open-sided structures, used for both shade from the sun and as the perfect cover from heavy rainfall.
Distinctive in shape and style, differing from any outside leisure building then in existence in the UK, he set about designing something similar from the humble beginnings of his own garage. Although not a carpenter by trade, woodworking ran in his family, with both his father and grandfather keen carpenters and cabinet makers.
The Colonial Breeze House was the original building and featured a 165cm diameter table which could accommodate 6 to 8 armchairs. In 1997, Breeze House launched the Colonial to the outside world by displaying at RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show. The success of the Breeze House was staggering and a fully-fledged business blossomed.
And yet, although our inspiration comes from the wild and enchanting continent of Africa, our Breeze Houses are designed and constructed right here in the UK. So when you order your Breeze House you are getting design, style and substance fit for the changing weather and stunning backdrop of the African plains, but the craftsmanship, care, attention and skill from our team right here on your home turf.
It’s an African adventure in your own garden!
