Yes, it’s that time of year again! When the healthy eating we strived to perfect at the start of the year gets swiftly swept under the carpet and out come the sugar, syrup, Nutella and all manner of concoctions that should never really be joined on the same plate. And yet nobody bats an eyelid, because it’s Pancake Day!
And what better way to celebrate Shrove Tuesday than grabbing those coats and scarves and heading out for some pancake fun al fresco style in your Breeze House?
Pancake Day is the perfect excuse to get the whole family together for some cookery fun. Whether you go for savoury or sweet, they are so easy to make with the kids and taste delicious.
Going traditional with lemon and sugar, or indulging chocolate spread and strawberries? Why not step up your pancake game with smoked ham and cheese or sumptuous squash, rosemary and goats cheese? Delicious!
If you have a small outdoor stove, you can really have some fun outdoors with pancake making. Who can flip theirs the highest?
For 12 pancakes, you’ll need 100g plain flour, 2 large eggs and 300ml of milk. Whisk all the ingredients together and set aside to rest for 30 minutes if you can. Then heat up your frying pan with a little oil. Once hot, pour in some of the mixture and tip your pan so it spreads evenly and thinly. Cook them for approximately one minute on each side before serving.
Then sit back in your Breeze House and devour your homemade delights in the cool but refreshing February air. And don’t forget to send photos of your pancake fun to our Facebook page, we’d love to hear from you!
